Beautifully tucked into the Dekalb Market is Brooklyn's very own Nile Valley Eco~Juice and Salad Bar! This amazing little cafe is filled with all sorts of goodies (all of which are vegan). Their menu offers an array of dishes that include Caribbean style soups loaded with veggies, provisions, and spelt dumplings: and options can vary between split pea, lentil pea or black eye pea. They also have some warm food combos sometimes include black quinoa or wild rice (with veggies and cranberries) served with either lentils, kidney beans, black eye peas or other bean protein, and sauteed mixed greens. They also offer great veggie burgers, Caribbean patties, wraps and sandwiches of the sort and quite a few raw vegan desserts: and super delicious too!
When we visited, we fell in love with the Black Quinoa (learn more about Quinoa). Main reason is: it blended so well with all other things in our plate like the stewed beans and the lightly sautéed kale: so amazing! They also serve up some great organic, and freshly prepared juices and smoothies. According to Molicia Crichton of Nile Valley, "Organic is the best and most healthiest way for us to eat." And Nile Valley backs this by ensuring that all of their goods and produce are 100% organic and 100% Vegan Vegetarian (foods that are prepared without any dairy or other animal products or meats).
So get down to the Dekalb Market and catch them while you can! Take some time to visit the amazingly delicious Nile Valley. This cafe--in addition to rest of the market--- is open from now until the end of this year; then they re-open sometime in the early Spring season for more yummy goodness!
Enjoy!!
