The Cold-Sinus Blaster | A JUICE RECIPE TO ELIMINATE THE HEAVINESS
By Dominick H.
As we move through some subtle planetary shifts, some people may be noticing that everything "feels heavy." Sounds super scientific and "new-agey", but it's true. I know I feel that sort of heaviness. I felt so heavy that I finally remembered to take some days off and rest: and juice it up. Truth be told, we all may experience this lack of motivation and weariness. And this is how we know that it is time for everyone to slow down a bit. But because it is time to slow down, that doesn't mean that it is time to become super lazy. We can use this time of rest to rejuvenate and heal the body. So we've got a nice juice recipe to not only blast out any sort of cold or sinus problems that may be manifesting, but also to get rid of any sort of heaviness that you may be experiencing as of lately.
Usually when I get an attack of a cold or a sinus issue, it's my body's way of telling me to slow down and chill out a bit. All that said, here is the fresh energy juice that I use to bounce right back:

Abundant Energy | FOUR WAYS TO LIVE A FULLER LIFE AND BEAT FATIGUE
By Katie G.
Recently, I had the good fortune of being invited to an IVY Connect panel discussion with Dr. Holly Phillips, a contributor to CBS News and author of the new book The Exhaustion Breakthrough. I have always been intrigued by the idea of energy in the body: where it comes from and how it affects our everyday lives. During this event, I had an a-ha moment. I realized that many of the behaviors viewed as "normal" are actually telltale signs that we need to take a step back and be honest with ourselves. For example, do you find yourself yawning uncontrollably at 3:00 pm when you're in the umpteenth meeting of the day? Do you make excuses not to exercise or socialize because you're just not feeling up to it? Are you nodding out every night on the couch at 9:00 pm? Do you just wish you had a little extra oomph? Do you feel like you're in a fog when you wake up in the morning? Are you drinking more than one cup of coffee and/or eating sugary foods to keep your energy "up?"
If the answer is yes to any one of these questions, then you, my friend, need to read on. The secret to energy isn't found solely in sleep (although don't get me wrong, it's important), but in various lifestyle choices and patterns that you can control.

I Started From The Bottom | THE BIRTH OF CLEAN LIVING AND THE ROAD TO A BALANCED DIET
By Dominick H.
Joshua Dorfman / project: Clean Food
When 2007 hit, I finally decided that eating terribly, partying hard and drinking myself into oblivion was no longer serving me: go figure. The recession hit, for me that is. But somehow, I managed to keep the facade going. The life I lived would seem ideal to most people. You know, a scheme of appearances. Great relationship. Great job. Great friends and family. I traveled a lot. And then there was yoga: I had been practicing for about two years at that point. Seemingly all good, right? All sounds like someone that should be happy and content with things. But, something was missing. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. But that feeling of "something missing" had always been with me ever since I can remember: probably since I was 9 or 10 years old. Ever since I was a young boy, I would write a lot. Poetry. Short Stories. Songs. I loved writing. So it always served as an outlet for me to express and understand myself. But in 2007, writing and reflecting was no longer enough. I craved something more, something deeper. I wanted to feel better than I was feeling. I was tired of feeling disconnected. I was tired of feeling purposeless and lost. And with regard to my health, I was tired of feeling sluggish and low-negative energy. The lifestyle of poor diet choices and alcoholic indulgence was basically me attempting to fill a void within myself that, in all honesty, was never filled. However, that life I was living served as a springboard for what I was about to dive into. The job. The relationship. The friends. The old lifestyle. Even the yoga. It all flung me right into a new project: a project of clean food and clean living. 0 to 100. Real quick.

Black Mass | WHY ACTIVATED CHARCOAL MIGHT BE THE SECRET TO BETTER HEALTH & SKIN
By Katie G.
You might see it in your juices and you might see it in your skincare products. You might even see it in your teeth whiteners. As of late, activated charcoal seems to be everywhere. Its gritty texture gives juices a tint of blackish-grey and turns skin coal-black when used as a face mask. You might wonder how something that looks so off-putting can be good for you. But, after doing some research (and much first-hand trial), it turns out that activated charcoal is less of something that's a passing fad and more of something that has real long-term health and beauty benefits. So, how does it actually work?
